Diatomaceous earth, also known as DE, diatomite or kieselgur/kieselguhr, is a soft silica-based rock with particle sizes in the range of 10 to 200 micrometers, or a fraction of a millimeter. Use a small shovel or a trowel to move the powder from its container to a garden duster.
